Hi All,

I have recently completed demonstratios for both the Canterbury Society of Art (a still life 'flowers') and for Herne Bay Society of Art (Watercolour landscape).

I have now completed all of my paintings for the Parallax A.F and frames. I'm please with them, but I always think I could do better!

I'm sure you are the same, it seem to me that part way through a painting I actually work for the painting, it is at this stage creativity begins and I don't know what the end result will look like.

My studio was in the 30's today, can't expect much else with a flat metal roof. Even with two fans working no difference was noticed. Should have more sense! This is why usually, in the summer months, I work in the evenings.

I have just replenished the paints in my French easel and I'm looking forward to painting outside again; but with pre-planned events it wont be for about a fortnight. Roll on!

Plein air

It great to see some sunshine. At last, the chance to paint outside and not get cold. I was painting in Whitstable one day  last week it was wonderful. I do paint in other weathers, each seems to have its own attractions. I go with a limited palette, of oils, and usually a French box easel - for the sizes it takes I have never had anything better. I do use pochade boxes as well (7X5) (6X8) and (12X10) they are very handy for outdoor work, which is what they were intended for; but obviously can be used anywhere. This week, and next, I shall be in the studio upgrading pochade box  sketches, but not of Whitstable, too 20 X 16 and 24 X 18 canvases ready for exhibitions this coming spring and summer. I really am behind - again!!

All the best to you all; especially with the painting !!!!

Roy
